One of the joys of my work is helping people celebrate love, milestones, and personal stories in a fun and meaningful way. I had the pleasure of creating a very special wedding caricature for a couple named Ali and Ty — a gift commissioned all the way from Ohio in America by Ali’s sister, Candace.
Candace contacted me looking for a one-of-a-kind wedding gift, something personal that would capture the spirit of her sister’s new chapter. She wanted to include a John Deere 5020 tractor and a Busch light in the grooms hand and a glass of wine in the brides hand. I was sent a photograph of the brides dress and a special necklace she was wearing on the day, and I was told the groom was going to wear a black tux with white undershirt, dark jeans with brown boots.
They live on St Mary’s River Road and the crossing road Barber Werner in Ohio and wanted to include a road sign, along with their house, the corn field in the background, and their last name Whitney.

The central feature of the caricature design I created was a classic John Deere 5020 tractor with “Whitney” (their shared last name) on the side in a custom logo design. I drew the bride and groom with big smiles sitting proudly atop the tractor.
Thanks to Candace’s photographs, I was able to add bespoke details and make the caricature more personal. I drew Ali is wearing her beautiful Boho style wedding gown, including a rustic belt and jewelry, modeled directly from reference photos Candace provided. Ty wears his black tuxedo jacket with a crisp white shirt, paired with dark jeans and brown boots — a great blend of rustic and formal.

To add more of a personal touch, I placed a Busch Light in Ty’s hand and a glass of wine in Ali’s. Behind them, their home sits with St. Mary’s River Road and Barber Werner Road noted on a nearby signpost driving through lush cornfields stretching out in the background. Adding to the warm and rural charm is a the glow of a soft orange sunset.
This wedding caricature wasn’t just a fun drawing, it was a personalised storybook illustration, capturing who Ali and Ty are as a couple. It’s always a privilege to be trusted with such an important keepsake, and I’m so grateful to Candace for allowing me to be a part of this unique celebration. The artwork for this caricature was sent digitally to Candace in America, who made her own printing and framing arrangements, but a framed caricature gift, designed by Carmel, can be shipped to family or friends anywhere in the USA. Congratulations, Ali and Ty — may your journey ahead be just as joyful and full of character as your caricature!
